Sat 7-23-11

Got to the flea market at 6:40am. Pretty hopping. Got a like-new guitar stand for $3, a cool Craftsman mini-circular saw for $5 I can use, a black Casio portable TV for $1.

Yard saling was really good. Got 2 iPods - a 4 gb Mini and a 20 gb 2nd gen one for $5 both! 1 works fine, the other I'll sell as-is on the Bay.

Also scored a cool Korg G3 pedalboard for $5 I'll resell, and an Apple Firewire cord and charger for an iPod for $1.

Also got 2-8gb SD cards for $15 for my camcorder.

Hit the flea market at 6:30am. Got a nice red Aria ProII FS Series strat style elec for $30. Will resell. Also found a black Monster Cable Speaker Switching box for $5 (resold on eBay for $30).

Got a 4gb new flash drive for $5, and a nice Panasonic Mini DV recorder w/4 new tapes (no battery or charger) for $5 for resale. I'll keep the tapes for mine.

Got a New Fostex test tone generator for $5 (later sold on eBay for $30), and a nice 12' guitar cord for $1.

Sat 7-9-11

Got to the flea market at 6:25am. Lots of deals out there. Got a small Peavey amp for $5, a 15 watt Crate amp for $15, a small child size Peavey 1 pu guitar for $25. Will resell all.

Also got a nice Korg tuner for $2, and a pink Barbie 5.1ghz camera & receiver for free! Also got a Sony DVD player w/remote for $1. Player doesn't work, but I can use the remote for my other players.

Kinda lite at the flea market. Got 2-8 pks of C batteries for my Vox amps for $6, and a nice like-new guitar stand for $3. I'll keep that.

Friday 7-1-11 - Went to the flea market around 8:30am, got a Washburn G-Jr electric Strat style guitar for $30, will resell.

Arrived at flea market at 6:30am. Got a Sony Sports Radio for a buck. Will resell on eBay for $20-25. I've sold about 7 or 8 of these before.

Got a couple of new 4GB SD cards for my digital recorder for $5 ea, a good deal.

Went yard saling afterwards and got a Panasonic Hard Drive camcorder for $15, with a dead battery. No way to test it, but I have good instincts and after I got a charger on eBay for $7, it worked great! Will probably use for recording music clips for YouTube.

On a whim, I bought a 4-record set of Jane Froman. Looked old, but for just $5 I thought it would be a good resale item. (Later, on eBay, I saw the foolishness of my folly. I'll be lucky to get $15-20 on eBay)

At a yard sale I got a small "Santa Rosa" electric guitar for a child for $4. I think I can get $60-70 for it.

Found a nice Squier 10 watt amp for $10 at a Goodwill. Works.

Nice modern tripod mic stand w/ boom for $3.

5-ea. 4-packs AA Alkaline Batt - $5. I'm a battery hound. you can never have too many. Always check the shelf life.

Flea Market

Red Cen-Tech volt meter for $1. You can never have too many of these, and they're cheap,( sold new at Harbor Freight for $3-10 depending on sales).

Found a nice CAD Sm-58 clone for $5. A real sleeper mic. CAD makes great mics.

Got 10 new Sony Mini Discs for a buck.

Black guitar gig bag, stand & cord for $7.

I got up at 5:30, showered & hit the flea market. Lots of stuff. I saw an old Teisco del Rey for $50. Too high. I came back an hour later and it was $25. But I talked them down to $18. (Sold it a few weeks later on eBay for $120 + shipping).

I also saw a nice sunburst "Crescent" brand Strat, made in China. Got it for $35. I'll resell locally and try and get $100-125.

Saw a nice 10 watt guitar amp & got for $5.

Same day. Scored a really nice blue P-Bass copy for $30. I have a bass amp at home I'm selling and will try and pair them up.

Today I got up at 5:30 am, showered and hit the Flea Market at 6:45, kinda late for me. But I managed to snag a black Fender Squier Strat for $35 with a gig bag, guitar stand and pro cord. The seller wanted $50 and I offered $35. He countered with $40 but I held firm. After all, I'm taking all the risks - does everything work? The seller said it was about 15 years old. Not sure where it was made. Hoping for a Japanese origin. Need to do some research to find out. I'll post more later.

Mountain Jam #24 from March 23, 2010

We had another great Mountain Jam last night (3-23-10). Marty joined the band, fresh from his trip to Bolivia. Lots of great players & singers including Helen Heltman, Zach Haney, Dave McPeters, Eual Owens, Walt Puckett, The Fabulous West brothers, Happy del Bueno, Korey Warren and Dave Hinton. There were songs from the Beatles, Stones, Wilson Pickett, Bill Monroe, The Allman Bros. Catch highlights on URTV on Charter Cable on Monday nights at 11pm.
